Mr Umar Munshi is the General Partner at HASAN.VC and Co-Founder of Ethis, with over a decade of experience in venture capital, technology startups, halal investment and Islamic fintech. Through HASAN.VC, a Malaysia-based venture capital fund and Singapore-based accelerator, he champions resilient, purpose-driven "Camel Startups" across Asia. Umar is also an active speaker, trainer and advisor, contributing to AAOIFI Governance Standards and advising regulators on fintech and alternative investment frameworks. He co-founded Ethis in 2014, which has since launched pioneering alternative investment platforms and licensed fintech ventures across Asia. In 2022, Umar received the Emerging Leader Prize at the Royal Award for Islamic Finance, presented by Bank Negara Malaysia and the Securities Commission Malaysia. He regularly shares insights on entrepreneurship, venture capital, Islamic fintech and halal investment at regional and international forums.
