Mr Fazal Bahardeen is the Founder and CEO of CrescentRating and HalalTrip, globally recognised pioneers in halal travel and Muslim-friendly tourism. After an 18-year corporate career, he founded CrescentRating in Singapore in 2008 to address the lack of credible standards for Muslim-friendly travel, inspired by his own experiences as a Muslim traveller. Over the past 17 years, CrescentRating has expanded across the Middle East, South Asia, Europe, and Asia, providing research, consultancy, training, and rating services to governments and tourism stakeholders worldwide. Fazal co-created the Global Muslim Travel Index (GMTI) with Mastercard, now the industry’s leading benchmark covering 153 destinations. He also developed the world’s first Muslim-friendly travel accreditation framework and the Muslim Travel Intent Tracker. In addition, he founded the Halal In Travel Global Summit and Awards, now in its sixth edition and recognised as a premier industry platform.
