Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Hussein Ahmed Abd El-Rahim is Professor of Infectious Diseases and Epizootiology at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Assiut University, Egypt, with over 35 years of experience in veterinary medicine, infectious diseases, food safety, biotechnology, and halal food systems.
He earned his BVSc, MVSc, and PhD from Assiut University and received a prestigious DAAD scholarship to conduct doctoral research at Justus Liebig University Giessen, Germany. He later served as a Visiting Researcher at the Danish Veterinary Institute for Virus Research and the Free University of Berlin.
Promoted to Full Professor in 2006, he has held several distinguished positions, including Consultant to the Ministry of Agriculture, Saudi Arabia (2003โ2010), Professor at Qassim University (2010โ2011), and Professor at Umm Al-Qura University (2011โ2023).
Since 2024, he has been Chief Executive Officer of the Food Division at Label-Tech Company, Saudi Arabia, leading innovations in sterilised ready-to-eat meals, humanitarian food solutions, and food technology.
Prof. Abd El-Rahim has authored more than 60 publications in ISI- and Scopus-indexed journals and holds three patents registered with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). His achievements include the Egyptian Scientific Excellence Awards (2000 and 2002) and the Almarai Award for Distinguished Research in Veterinary Sciences (2012).
An internationally recognised authority on food safety and halal food, he is a frequent speaker at major global conferences and served as Editor of the Halal Food Handbook (John Wiley & Sons, 2020), a leading reference in halal food science.
