Prof. Dr. Sajid Mehmood Shahzad is the Vice Chancellor of Minhaj University Lahore, a leading higher education institution comprising 11 faculties, 36 academic schools, 16 independent research centres, and 18 directorates. Under his leadership, the University has strengthened its commitment to academic excellence, research, innovation, and international collaboration.
Among the University’s key initiatives is the Center for Halal Awareness, Research and Training (CHART), which promotes halal education, research, professional training, consultancy, and industry–academia collaboration to advance the global halal sector.
A distinguished academic and researcher, Prof. Dr. Shahzad regularly publishes books and scholarly articles and is frequently invited to deliver keynote addresses at international conferences and academic forums worldwide. He also leads multidisciplinary research initiatives and international conferences that bring together leading scholars and industry experts.
Prior to his academic career, Prof. Dr. Shahzad served with distinction in the Pakistan Navy and retired as a Commodore in 2019. He earned his doctorate in International Relations from the University of the Punjab and held several key appointments, including Deputy Military Secretary to former Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali and Principal Staff Officer to the Chief Executive Secretariat from 1999 to 2002. Before his retirement, he served as Deputy Chief of the Naval Staff.
